SMDSC and
SMPAC are in the final 6 days
of Registration. If
you have already registered, your registration fees must be paid by the
January 17th, 2009 deadline.
This is a USA Dance National Qualifying
Event! If
you wish to compete at the USA Dance event, you must also be a member of
USA Dance. To join, download the membership application
 . Fill it
out and submit it along with your entry. (If you join USA Dance with the
downloaded form at the comp, the local chapter gets half of your dues
payment rather than all of the dues going to the national coffers. You
may even join at the time you pick up your competition packet.)

evening during the Welcome
Dance party. Tickets are included in
the competitor registration
fee. Spectator
tickets will be available at the door!

CONSIGNMENT COSTUMES
If you have
costumes you wish to sell during the competition, bring them with you.
There will be a consignment booth set up. Hanging fee is $2 per costume
with 10% commission for any costume that sells.

CHANGE
Please note
that the Schedule of Events has been changed. SMDSC will begin with
Standard at 1 p.m. Friday followed by Smooth, then at 7 p.m. Latin
followed by Rhythm, hopefully this will facilitate costume
changes. Check the website for current news.

FUN DANCES & MIXED PROFICIENCY
They
are offering 6 "Fun Dances", Argentine Tango, Hustle, Lindy Swing, Open
Bolero, Salsa, and WC Swing. To access the Fun Dances in on-line
registration, click ADULT for age division. These are open to all ages
and levels. They are also offering MIXED PROFICIENCY Syllabus Events.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The
2009 Smoky Mountain DanceSport Championships will be held at the
Marriott Downtown, January 30 & 31, 2009. This is a USA
Dance National Qualifying Event. There are over 200
competitors registered at this time and more are expected this
week. The 2009 Smoky Mountain Pro-Am Challenge will be February
1, 2009. They are in need of "volunteers" to help with setup,
breakdown, and during the comp. If you are interested and
willing to help, please contact
tmcghee@usabda-knoxville.us as soon as possible.
Volunteer's will be provided with passes for the weekend, lunch
on Saturday as well as Dance/Show tickets for Saturday evening.
